Obituary

Mary L. Martin, age 92 of Altoona/Williamsburg, loving known as “Mert,” died Wednesday evening 04/27/2022 at Maybrook Hills Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.  She was born in Altoona, a daughter of Charles R. and Kathryn (Armstrong) Nolan.  Mert married Charles E. Martin who preceded her in death 05/25/2005.  Surviving are a daughter, Sandra S. (Gerald) Lower; four grandchildren:  Gerald (Angela) Lower II, Reggie (Leslie) Lower, Tisha (Michael) Cottingham and Shawn (Heather) Sisto; eight great grandchildren:  Tyler and Shenia Lower, William and Brynn Lower, Landyn, Grant and Sydney Cottingham and Cheyanne Hampton, and two great great grandchildren.  Mert was preceded in death by a son, Samuel F. “Bo” Sisto, two brothers and a sister.  She was the last immediate member of her family.  Mert was a homemaker and of Methodist faith.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, Bingo and going to casinos.  Mert volunteered at A&J Iaia Post 827, especially during spaghetti dinners.  Friends received from 4-6:00 p.m. Monday 05/02 at Vincent J. Good Funeral Parlor, 328 5th Avenue, Altoona, where a funeral service will be held at 6:00 p.m. by Rev. Dick Henry officiating.  Internment will be made at Calvary Cemetery, Altoona.
